What began as an idea to help amateur filmmakers use their iPads to shoot video, interviews, and documentaries is becoming a widely adopted and accepted solution for people from various backgrounds to shoot professional quality video. From extreme to mainstream, professional to consumer, The Padcaster is enabling consumers to conveniently and easily realize their creative vision. Josh Apter, Founder
Josh Apter is the Founder and CEO of The Padcaster®. In 2012, Josh invented, designed, and founded The Padcaster®.
Prior to founding The Padcaster®, Josh founded Manhattan Edit Workshop, an Apple, Avid, Adobe, Autodesk, Assimilate and Blackmagic Authorized Training Center that offers a variety of classes in the art and technique of film editing & Production. With clients ranging from Rainbow Media, HBO, NBC and CNN, Manhattan Edit Workshop has become the premier training destination for the highest-level content creators and media professionals.
In addition, Josh is an award-winning writer, director, and editor who has worked in all areas of filmmaking. Josh’s past experience includes dozens of credits on shorts and feature films. In his directorial debut on the film “Kaaterskill Falls,” Josh was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards: the John Cassavetes Award and Best Debut Performance. “Kaaterskill Falls” was also awarded the Critic's Jury Prize at the IFP/West Los Angeles film Festival. As a film editor, Josh has worked on over ten feature films including “The Holy Land” (winner Slamdance FF/Cavu Pictures Distributor) and “Barbecue is a Noun” (Audience Award for best Documentary at the Rome International Film Festival and the River Run Film Festival).
Josh holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania and Masters degree from New York University’s Graduate Film Program, where his film, “The 53rd Calypso,” was honored with the Martin Scorsese Award for achievement in directing. The film, which stars Edward Norton, received numerous awards for directing, editing and cinematography at film festivals across the country.
Jon Goldberg, President
Jon Goldberg is the President of The Padcaster®. Jon has over 20 years of experience as a venture capital fund manager, board member, entrepreneur, advisor, and investment banker.
Prior to joining The Padcaster®, Jon was Managing Director and Head of Venture Capital and Private Equity for a family office. Before, Jon was the co-founder and Managing Director of GA Venture Partners (GAVP), a $500 million venture capital fund. Earlier, Jon was Managing Director of AEI, one of the largest financiers of venture capital-backed emerging growth technology companies. Prior to AEI, Mr. Goldberg co-founded and managed the Israel America Discovery Fund, a venture capital fund focused on Israel and Israeli-related early-stage technology companies. Jon was formerly Director and co-founder of VCapital, a venture capital backed company that was one of the first private securities marketplaces on the Internet.
Having served on the Boards of numerous venture backed companies, Mr. Goldberg has helped his portfolio companies recruit new board members and C-level executives, develop strategic partnerships, arrange traditional and non-traditional financing, and negotiate sales to public and private companies.
