It's time to make resolutions for the New Year! Here are five recommended filmmaking habits that the Padcaster team is planning to practice in the new year.
CHARGE
I will CHARGE my devices every night. As a backup plan, I'll have an extra battery, charger, or power bank ready to go. Plus, I'll keep my charging cables untangled!
CHECK
I will CHECK the storage capacity on my device before every event so I don’t run out of storage space in the middle of a film or photo shoot. I'll bring an external hard drive in case I need to clear up space on my device. If shooting on a phone or iPad, we recommend something like this SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Go. Be sure to check that whatever drive you choose is compatible with your devices.
CARRY
I will CARRY my gear bag in “Always Ready" mode for a last minute event. Keep your list handy so that you can easily run through it. For me, this means:
- batteries
- Chargers
- Lens wipes
- Coin or screw driver to tighten camera mounts
- Headphones
- Hard Drives
- Release forms and any other necessary paperwork
- Sticky notes and a pen
CLEAN
I will CLEAN the lenses on my devices before any events. I'll also keep my device screens and camera bags cleaned and organized. It's much easier to make sure you have everything you need in your bag when it's nice and organized.
CLEAR
I will CLEAR the Clutter immediately after a shoot. I'll be sure to delete any images or clips that are out of focus, have low sound quality, can’t be used, etc. I will keep my files organized in folders, ensuring to name and date the files and folders.
